To the people of South Sudan,
With rebellion seemingly running in their blood, no one should be surprised or alarmed by this latest unpatriotic act of militant side-switching.
Two self-proclaimed senior generals from the Agwelek Forces, under the leadership of Deputy Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Johnson Olony, have once again chosen what many consider the dark side of our history by re-aligning themselves with the ICU-based so-called “Real SPLM” led by Pagan Amum in Nairobi, without presenting any clear, national, or honorable justification for such a hopeless political move.
Those who abandoned the Agwelek Forces along tribal lines to join Pagan Amum’s failed political project resemble men attempting to tow a broken-down vehicle without lights on a dark and dangerous road. History has already shown the weakness of divisive politics built on tribalism, betrayal, selfish ambition, disobedience, and internal sabotage.
The SPLM and its leadership invested heavily in Pagan Amum for many years, including providing international exposure and political opportunities abroad. Yet, instead of using that experience to strengthen national unity, his political path has repeatedly been associated with division, confrontation, and political instability.
Even if Pagan Amum were handed millions of soldiers equal to the strength of the Russian Army and ordered to march toward Juba, he would still fail to capture even a single boma or payam administration anywhere in South Sudan because the people are tired of conflict and endless rebellion.
No patriotic citizen should waste time glorifying or entertaining these meaningless defections, which have repeatedly ended in humiliation and political failure. In the end, peace, stability, and national security must prevail.
It remains the foremost duty of every sitting Head of State to enforce, protect, and preserve peace and security with strength, responsibility, and determination for the future of our nation.
